About us
The Children's Hospital Trust Fund was set up in the old Westminster Hospital in 1981. The purpose is to make charitable contributions towards the purchase of medical and surgical equipment for paediatric use and to provide help and comfort for sick children, be they in hospital, in the community at large or at home.
The trustees have unfettered discretion to use the funds of the Trust as they think fit, within the objectives of the trust. The trustees meet quarterly or as often as is necessary and the day to day work is carried out on a part time basis by the administrator and the secretary. Much of our money comes from local well-wishers, grateful parents and relatives, donations from grant-making trusts and other other charities. You can also donate to us by clicking here.
When the old Westminster Hospital was moved to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Fulham Road, London, this charity moved aswell, and it was the wish of the NHS executive at the hospital that there be as few charities based there as possible to avoid confusion. As such the former League of St Nicholas changed its name to the St Nicholas Fund and became a subsidiary of this charity. The St Nicholas Fund does good work in raising funds for television sets, furniture, extra parents' beds, toys and other aids to keep children as happy as possible in a hospital environment. They also help to buy specific items from time to time and the ladies who run the the St Nicholas Fund are in regular contact with the paediatric wards.
Over the last few years the CHTF has raised £350,000 for the Pollyanna Appeal, £700,000 for the Newborn Baby Support Project and has now met the target of £169,000 for special equipment for the wards. The trust has contributed £3,250 together with other charities towards a Monitor in the Chelsea and Westminster which can be used for both adults and for children, which is our particular interest. Our trust has also recently recovered £3,664 (mainly for the St Nicholas Fund) representing Gift Aid recovery from donor. We have made a payment of £853 for baby mats for the Physiotherapy Department.
It is the wish of the Trustees, headed by the Chairman, Dr Martin J Brueton, the CHTF should make a positive contribution to the children who come for treatment at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and this we aim to do with enthusiasm. You can also help us with this very important work by making a donation. If you wish to contact us for any other reason, then click here.
